This picture is widely thought to be of Neda, the Iranian woman murdered by a Basij militia member yesterday. She was shot in the chest while standing next to her father, who was then forced to watch her die as blood filled her lungs. No rhyme, no reason. Just murdered in cold blood.

Her name means “the voice,” but Neda is now also the face of the Iranian revolution.
