Dennis Prager on the potential ban on smoking in the military

Prager is dead-on here, and very funny to boot.

From his show on July 10th:

Story about the potential ban is here.

It’s interesting that Prager talks about the “left” being the ones who want to impose their way of life on the rest of us. I find that the “right” does this just as much. I fought hard against the smoking ban in my city based upon our natural right to property and privacy. Unfortunately, many “conservatives” here feel that since they don’t smoke or like smoking, that no business owner should be allowed to smoke on their property. I think it’s important for us not to use “left” and “right” as a distraction when discussion issues, but rather focus on the underlying principles.

Hey Joel, thanks for the comment, but I don’t believe the two issues are related. Prager is upset at Democrats because they want to take away soldiers’ tobacco for HEALTH reasons. The whole ban on smoking inside certain establishments, and having to be 25 ft. away from the door may be partially about health reasons, but I believe it’s mostly about ensuring comfort for the most amount of patrons possible. When I go into a Denny’s or a bowling alley, for example, I don’t want to come out smelling like cigarettes.

So, one is a Left/Right issue, and the other isn’t.
