Even While on No Fly List, Faisal Shahzad was able to Board Plane and Almost make it out of the Country

CNN published this update at 3:38 EST:

The suspect in the attempted car bombing of New York’s Times Square was already in police custody Monday night when a flight he was scheduled to be on pushed back from the gate, a federal law enforcement source with direct information about the arrest told CNN.

A second source, an administration official, said Faisal Shahzad had made it on to the plane and the door was shut, but the plane had not pushed off when the door was then opened and he was arrested.

However, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano clearly says (at 0:56) that Shahzad was on the plane when he was arrested.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

That’s unbelievable. A terrorist gets put on the No Fly list after attempting to bomb Times Square, and he’s still able to board a plane and almost make it out of the country.

The system is broken, Janet.

  1. Bill says:

    Janet’s fault?

  2. Nick says:

My point in saying the “system is broken” is that the system (obviously) needs serious reform.

  3. DCG says:

When you are in charge dang straight it’s your fault. Buck stops at the top!

Maybe if Janet quit worrying about all those right wing “terrorists” and focused on the radical Islamic terrorists we wouldn’t have had attacks/attempted attacks (by radical Islamics) in our country in the past 8 months…
