Say Hello to Congressman Djou!

This sucker is OVER!

From Honolulu Civil Beat:

Civil Beat Poll: Djou On Way To May 22 Victory

Republican Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou is on his way to Washington to represent Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District, according to a new poll of likely voters conducted for Civil Beat.

Djou leads with 39.5 percent of the vote, followed by former Congressman Ed Case and Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, who are tied at 25.5 percent, according to the poll by Aloha Vote, a Hawaii subsidiary of Merriman River Group (MRG), a Massachusetts research organization. Nearly 10 percent are undecided.

Ok, so that polling news is phenomenal. Here’s what’s even more phenomenal:

More than half the respondents — 52.6 percent — had already voted. And of that group, Djou got 45 percent of the vote, one reason it’s so difficult to imagine trends changing in any significant way between now and May 22.

Djoooooooouuuuuuuuu!!!

It’s no wonder the DCCC waved the white flag earlier today.

From Chris Cillizza:

House Democrats pull out of Hawaii special election

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced this morning that it will cease spending money in the Hawaii special election race set for later this month, a decision that almost certainly will hand Republicans a victory.

“The DCCC will not be investing additional resources in the [Hawaii’s 1st district] special election,” said DCCC communications director Jen Crider. “Local Democrats were unable to work out their differences. The DCCC will save the resources we would have invested in the Hawaii special election this month for the general election in November.”

To date, the DCCC has spent $313,000 on ads seeking to weaken Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou (R) but has been unable to do so in a meaningful way as an internal party division has made the race close to unwinnable.

You’re the man, Charles!
