Meg Whitman Ups Spending Total to $64 Million in Cali Gubernatorial Race

And she only leads by two points. Down from 50.

From CQ Politics:

Yesterday, we were impressedwith the $59 million that Meg Whitman had put up for her GOP gubernatorial primary in California. Pshaw.

The Mercury News reports that the total’s still climbing.

Here’s Whitman’s latest ad:

If all that is true, what Conservative could possibly vote for Poizner?

Here’s Poizner’s latest ad:

From the SF Chronicle:

Whitman’s spokeswoman, Sarah Pompei, called the Poizner ad false and rejected its claim that Whitman did not vote in several presidential races or even for her current campaign manager, Pete Wilson, a former governor and U.S. senator.

“This ad is an absolute and total lie. Meg registered as a Republican in 1982 and has voted for Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and John McCain — and Steve Poizner knows it,” Pompei said in a statement. She did not specify which elections she was referring to.

Between this race and the GOP Senate primary, June 8th should be a very interesting day.
