Bummer. I really liked Rob.
Simmons Winding Down Campaign
Former Connecticut Rep. Rob Simmons all but ended his bid for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday morning, announcing on the radio that he’ll “no longer be campaigning” and will allow his staff to seek new work.
“We have decided reluctantly and with prayer to scale back the campaign. We’ll release the staff to pursue other opportunities. We’ll curtail campaign activities,” the Republican said on the station WXLM. “Not an easy decision, not a happy decision for me, but I think the right decision.”
Explaining further, Simmons said: “It means I’ll no longer be campaigning.”
“We probably could have stuck it out a few more months,” Simmons said, acknowledging the primary would have been a difficult battle, “but I’m not sure it would’ve changed things.”
